The potash beds in Saskatchewan are known to stretch for hundreds of kilometers. So the likelihood of potash bearing beds occurring within the prospect area are surmised by the presence of potash occurring in wells surrounding the prospect.

The Patience Lake, Belle Plaine, and Esterhazy Members are present in all wells near the Day Star Prospect with the exception of the missing Belle Plaine Member in the Atlantic Raymore well. While the thicknesses of the potash-bearing beds are generally substantial, often in excess of 30 or 40 feet (9 or 12 meters), the thicknesses of each bed are variable. The Patience Lake Member varies between 16 and 57 feet (5 and 17 meters) thick; the Belle Plaine from 15 to 80 feet (5 to 24 meters) thick, where present; and the Esterhazy from 31 to 64 feet (10 to 20 meters) thick.
